It's Official!

Yesterday we traveled to Edinburgh as a family.  In one day, we took the subway, a taxi, a train and a city bus!
Our primary reason was to go to the US Embassy to register Ruby's birth and get her a passport and a social security number - as for the past 7 weeks she has been in nationality-limbo. Oh no!  But not to worry, Uncle Sam can fly the flag high now that Ruby is officially a US citizen. YAY! 

The U.S. Embassy in Edinburgh (we are SO lucky there is a location in Scotland so we did not have to make the trip to London).  The weather yesterday was warm and a bit breezy but a perfect day to walk around Edinburgh.

ps: many have asked if she will have dual citizenship as she was born in the UK, the answer is no. She is born to American parents (as we are here on a special visa) therefore, she is an American born in the UK.

Edinburgh is so different than Glasgow. We had time to stop for a tasty lunch, walk around to the National Museum of Modern Art - which was amazing and featured a Jeff Koons exhibition.. as well as the Dean Gallery - both are located on beautiful grounds in old mansion houses.  We also had time to stop by the department store Harvey Nichols so I could check out some Marc Jacobs bags (don't worry, I did not buy any.. especially since the prices here are the same as in the states but there is a pound sign where a dollar sign would be - I am not THAT crazy).

There were swans swimming around this crazy moat in the front of the museum.

Lastly, I'm proud of our family for making the journey and having a FULL (7am-6pm) day out! (with a 7 week old baby!).
