I just love this song.. I love the lyrics.. as many of you know I am not much of a writer, more of a musical and visual person.. I feel this song really describes me and Ruby as we spend every day together having new adventures. Such a sweet and lovely song. Thank you Dolly Parton for this beautiful song.

Happy 5 month birthday Ruby!

What a summer! Brent, Ruby and I have been jogging in the mornings. The weather is so warm and (as we would say in the Northeast) springlike.. but, it is a Scottish summer. Hardly any rain at all - every day is a lovely day filled with puffy clouds. *(note - check out Ruby in her big girl stroller) - I still have her in the carrycot when I go jogging but we are testing the waters of her bigger stroller.

Yesterday we attended the Merchant City (a section of Glasgow) Street Fair - loads of artist activities, street fair food (ostrich burgers?) and sweets (loads of people selling fudge).  Check out this performance artist as he took some participants on a historic pub tour.

Today we celebrated summer by a walk in the park - everyone was out!
In the park, there are always LOADS of colorful flowers... I came across a new variety today.. anyone know?

I enjoyed a salad at my favorite park cafe - the yellow is a cupcake for Ruby's Saturday weekly birthday.

Then we simply chilled out in the grass under a tree for a couple hours. We bought Ruby a bunch of new toys this weekend - and some cute shoes - at the baby booty sale. bliss.

There is a new playground in the park by our house. It opened about a month ago.  Can't wait to visit with Ruby!

Then we had lunch with our friends Kim and Finlay.

After lunch Finlay and Ruby got to know eachother better.

Edinburgh Art Show

Our friend Sebastian has an art show in Edinburgh so we went for a trip.  Edinburgh is about 40 mins away on the train and trains leave Glasgow practically every 10 minutes so it is super easy to get to.

Summer T shirts and suits

Swimsuit SALE!

Ruby and I have been swimming 3 times already together. She loves it.. she floats on her back, we practice kicking and 1,2,3 slide in the pool.. she loves it when I blow bubbles too. She has never acted that the water temp is too cold for her and smiles, talks and loves looking at all the people swimming.  At first I was nervous that maybe she would be nervous or scared or cold, but from the first swim she has been all smiles. Threre is a local pool, a 10 minute walk away, which is really lovely where I used to go swimming when I was very pregnant (not to be confused with the University pool where I work out) - the difference? The local pool is sunny, small and very warm as opposed to the workout pool which is at a lower temp good for swimming laps and much larger.  The pool also has a 'family private changing room' with a changing table.. PERFECT for getting ready before and after our swim... did I also mention it is always empty?

Since it is the end of the summer season for fashion, we decided to get a few more swimsuits to last us the rest of the year.. but they were on sale, and I couldn't decide, so I bought 4!

Sunny Summer Day

Today was the most busy day yet for our buggyfit group! Here we are all lined up after finishing some leg work.

Our Summer Vacation

Hi all,
We just returned last week from our summer vacation in the Highlands. I went to the highlands - 15 years ago believe it or not - and to this date it is still some of the most beautiful landscape I have EVER seen.  Scotland is larger than you think.. the Highlands are the Northern end of Scotland.  You can get to the Southern tip of the Highlands in around 45 minutes from Glasgow however, we went NORTH.  We took a 3 and a half hour train to Inverness (in the middle of the Highlands) where we were met by our Campervan rep.  We then rented a campervan for what was supposed to be 5 days but turned into 7 (as she gave us a NICE discount to extend and we simply did not want to leave!).  Our campervan had a stovetop (every night we made dinner in our van and took out a little table to eat), sink, fridge and a roll out bed - surprisingly comfy (even a baby bed). We leisurely drove around for 7 days and 6 nights - we camped where we found a cozy view spot on the side of the road - days full of very small towns, castles, the loch ness monster, sheep, hairy coos, views - views - and more views! These photos do not do the trip justice. It was simply AMAZING.

Brent did an excellent job driving ON THE LEFT.  Most roads were one lane - as in a 2 lane road with one lane which had designated 'passing' areas for you to pull over and let the other car pass in front of you. We also drove up a road called the 'Passage of Cattle' read about it here.. 2,500 feet up, single lane road, no barrier... a real nail biter! - below is someone else's video but you can just imagine Brent driving (below) ;-)

Now back to life in Glasgow.  Brent is off for the summer officially. I have some work at a digital agency, based in London where I can work from home.  Life is good.
