Lucky 13!

For Ruby's 13 week birthday.. a lovely piece of Victoria Sponge cake (a yummy vanilla cake with raspberry in the middle - named after Queen Victoria, of course.)! Yum!  Ruby was VERY interested in the candle.

We are expecting 70mph winds in Scotland tomorrow. Hold on to your hats folks!

 Wednesday Ruby and I depart on a solo mission to London. We are taking the train down (the trip is around 4 and a half hours). We will be staying with my friends Elena and Alberto and their 6 month daughter Daniella. Playdate!

Thursday I am bringing Ruby to a business lunch. Baby's first business lunch! I told my lunch partner not to worry as Ruby loves chatting business. On Friday Brent and Grandma Suzie come down from Glasgow.  We are staying as a family with my friend Clare - who is more than generous in offering her house to us in Central London as she is away for the weekend. We will have a fun filled tourist weekend (mixed in with visiting friends. YAY!). Big Ben kids, Parliment!

Shopping...

Today we ventured out in the rain as a family down the road to a Baby Booty Sale.  We were in the market for a lightweight stroller (Ruby is small for the stroller at the moment but this is in preparation for our family trip to Paris at the end of next month). As well as a bumbo chair, as Ruby LOVES sitting up.. not on your lap, just you holding her as she sits on the floor on her own.  She also loves her Bjorn Bouncy seat (thanks Michelle!) as she can sit up at a 45 degree angle.

 reminded me of the 'Running of the Brides' in Boston because parents were grabbing up the good baby stuff - which I attended with my mom to 1.) have the experience 2.) search for 'the dress' -- the search was unsuccessful but, the experience was unforgettable. If you do not know what I am talking about.. you MUST watch the video below.

Happy 3 month Birthday! and a wee playdate..

Happy 3 month birthday Ruby! 3 cupcakes... Woohoo!

We also had a wee playdate today with our friends Kim and Finlay. Finlay is 1 month younger than Ruby and so sweet. He is so mellow and chilled out. Kim is a friend I met since I have arrived in Glasgow. She is spunky, smart and super nice.  We went for a walk in the park then had a photo shoot and a coffee back in our flat.

they did not notice eachother too much but they are still cuties! and it was fun watching them...

On another note Brent and I have actually been pretty busy. Brent has been finishing up school and working at a contemporary art gallery here in Glasgow.  The gallery is gorgeous!  It is in an old pre war building on a hill that overlooks the city. It hosts quite famous artists.  I have been trying to jump back into working. I already am working again at the yoga center doing some marketing for them and have some other offers on the table.. I'll keep you posted.

On a Ruby update.. she is talking! Not words but, her motions of talking AT you (making happy noises, sounds just out in the air) has actually turned into talking TO you.  She looks at you, focuses and makes a noise.. waits for you to respond and makes another noise. I will be sure to take a video of that asap. 

1 year down, 1 to go

Friday night was super special.
It was Brent's Art Show!  The show featured all of the 1st year Glasgow School of Art Master of Fine Art students. Brent has classmates from all over the globe and might I say I was VERY impressed.  The exhibition featured instillation art, sculpture and painting.. ofcourse, I had my favorite.. (below).

and.. ofcourse, we cannot forget Ruby's 11 week birthday!  We celebrated before Brent's art opening with New York cheesecake and Ruby wore a onzie appropriate for the occasion.

and just a small update on Ruby baby.. she is now 'almost' sitting up on her own and BOY, she LOVES it.  She practices now with us supporting her by either holding her hands or her tummy and back and does NOT want to return to lie on her back.  So much so, she spent the majority of today in her baby Bjorn bouncy seat (which is at a 45 degree angle) and otherwise having us help her practice sitting up; I guess she wants to be part of the action... Brent says (by practicing so much with her) that I have created a monster! ;-)

Wee Ruby stars in 'Happy Bunny'

SO much fun!

Ruby and I have been having SO much fun together lately. We have been meeting new people and having new experiences. Last week, we went to our buggyfit class and Mummy and Me yoga. This week, we went to buggyfit and today to a Mummy and Baby Movie - this is when you can take your baby to the movies - typically a VERY early showing - 5 pounds for the movie AND a coffee! - the cinema is a 15 minute walk from our house, has a coffee house/cafe attached and shows indie as well as mainstream films.  This week's film was 'Cedar Rapids'  - which was a dark comedy and very funny indeed.

The cinema is super confy with couches in the back so Ruby and I sat on the couch (so she can also easily eat when she likes) - I met some other mums at the movie and we all went for a picnic in the park afterwards. SO much fun!
ps: on a more important note, before the film we went to the doctor so Ruby could get her first round of immunizations... she was a trooper! She was sleepy when I took her out of the pram and simply let out a 'meow' when the needle hit her.. then fast back asleep. More courage than me! I couldn't even watch.
