I couldn't believe Brent hadn't been to a concert at Madison Square Garden!  We took in Arcade Fire and Spoon last week and it was AMAZING!  Our seats were great and the crowd was so excited.

As I have been spending the past few days trying to rid ourselves of odds and ends a New York Times Article posted today:
"..., the practices that consumers have adopted in response to the economic crisis ultimately could — as a raft of new research suggests — make them happier. New studies of consumption and happiness show, for instance, that people are happier when they spend money on experiences instead of material objects, when they relish what they plan to buy long before they buy it, and when they stop trying to outdo the Joneses."

Great Weekend of Summer Things I'll Miss

Had such an awesome weekend of things I'll miss here in NYC. Managed to take a few walks around Prospect Park which was so nice.  Saturday night we went to see a concert in Prospect Park with Su, Cathy, Scott and Gloria. It was packed but the music was groovy and it's wonderful to have free things in your backyard... the curious and fun things that are in Brooklyn are for sure things that I will miss upon traveling to Glasgow.
One curious thing we shared with Su and Cathy recently - a trip to the Red Hook Brooklyn Lobster Pound.

On Sunday I joined my friend Angelique at Brighton Beach which is a vacation to another country in itself.. but you can see Coney Island from Brighton Beach - which I visited last Friday and is always FUN!  Here's a photo from the Mermaid Parade a few years ago. Dog Days of Summer - Countdown 1 month 5 days

So much has changed since my last post.  We've just been very busy with our preparations for the move and enjoying the summer here in New York City.

Our visas came in the mail. YAY!  We've scheduled movers for September 1st and are arranging selling 75% of our belongings in order to make the process as simple as possible. There's something pretty neat about not having tons of belongings.  We're content in renting a flat in Glasgow that has everything we need - couch, bed, kitchen odds and ends.  Ofcourse, we will fill in the rest but, I like the idea of heading over with a few bags of luggage and settling into a home.  So now just trying to live the day to day and take care of all the odds and ends without letting the whole process become too overwhelming.  I also emailed my 'swimmies' today to let them know there will not be a Fall 2010 session.

It's a little sad because it's bitersweet saying goodbye to all that work but, I'm really proud of creating a successful entrepreneurial venture doing something I love - in the end, I take a lot of joy in simply that thought.

Passports and Visa

So now that Operation Move to Glasgow is in Action, we are in the process of applying for Visas.  When I went to the UK back in 2001, there was not a lengthy application process.  I simply flew to the UK, showed the immigration officer a letter from my school stating I had been accepted and my passport and he stamped it for a student visa. Well, times have changed... photos, fingerprinting, proof of finances, proof we are married and all sorts of lovely official documents.  Wish us luck.  We're going to get fingerprinted in 3 weeks.

We're moving to Glasgow!

We're officially moving to Glasgow for Brent to begin his studies at the Glasgow School of Art in September 2010.

It's pretty mind-blowing news at the moment but, we're doing our best to look forward and not hesitate on our decision. Haggis.. here we come.

Personally, I have been to Scotland once... for a few days back in 1998. Brent has only been for a few hours so this is going to be an ADVENTURE for sure! :-)
